Roupell Park Estate is where I grew up in South London. It was typical of many post-WWII estates – mid-rise blocks facing onto narrow winding roads, with lots of space to play and hardly any cars. In my memory it’s a grey place, in a grey post-war world. But thousands of families lived their ordinary and extraordinary lives in places like these.
