More new experiences …

This has been another week of firsts.

My first attempt to draw nature. Here we are on Wimbledon Common for a Peer Workshop organised by fellow student, Laura Wend.

My first attempt to draw a tree: I got absorbed in the bark of a horse chestnut tree.

The last one is the reverse of the rubbing, a drawing made by the tree itself.

And here’s the¬†collaborative large drawing we ended up with.

And yesterday afternoon I went into the print workshop and exposed my first photo screen. I had been avoiding the idea of printing but I couldn’t avoid the conclusion that it would help me to be able to create backgrounds for drawings more quickly. And that should help me make more drawings. And that should help me play more with options for presentation, especially those that mean tearing drawings up. This is a repeat image of the block of flats where my family lived when I was a child.
